Those who are familiar with Devans’ work as a minister of the gospel are aware of his extraordinary testimony: Jesus brought him to a place of complete surrender after living a life of uncertainty as an openly gay male. It wasn’t his sexual orientation that he was saved from as Devans has reiterated in his book Renovatum. He attests that Jesus indeed rescued him from the penalty of all his sin: not just homosexual acts, according to God’s plan in Christ. Over these last few years since his book release, Devans has been befriending, mentoring, and sharing with others who have similar stories (Christian or non-Christian). He has also recognized his own weaknesses in the realm of relational, emotional and sexual brokenness that he still carried as a believer.
