The Immaculate Crows

The Immaculate Crows were an Australian Brisbane-based alternative band formed by Bruce Neilsen and Chris Allen in 1982. The first line-up consisted of Hamish McKie (singer), Mark Kasulke (rhythm guitar), Chris Allen (drums), Bruce Neilsen (lead guitar and principal songwriter) and Brad Leaf-Milham (bass guitar). Hamish left briefly and was replaced by David Page who would have been one of the first (if not the first) indigenous frontman/vocalists in an Australian alternative band. David had been a teenage pop star . He was the first Australian to be signed to a Motown label. David sang on In The City which was a 4 track recording done in a Brisbane hall on 27 June 1982 and on Dingo and Psychedelic Girl which were recorded on 1 September 1982. He sadly passed away in 2016. Mark Kasulke left and was replaced by Mark Hocknell. David left and Hamish returned. Chris Allen left and was replaced by Neal (cannot remember his surname). The band broke up shortly afterwards and Bruce went on to form Insurrection and The Popes before playing with The Immaculate Crows again briefly in 1984 with Brad, Hamish, Mark and Dave (from The Popes) on Drums. A review of the Immaculate Crows at the time described them as a new wave guitar band but they were pretty hard to categorize. They did songs that covered a broad spectrum of genres including punk, new wave, psychedelic, progressive rock and pop which reflected the band’s and particularly Bruce’s myriad musical tastes.
