Born and raised in California, the Orange County native MITCHY uploaded her first EP to Soundcloud in 2016 as a 17 year old. She evolved an aptitude for songsmithing by
studying classical harp and piano whilst gleaning the vocal sonics of Beyonce and Jackson 5. With a sound that lands somewhere between Rihanna and FKA Twigs with mountainous beats, soaring choruses and lush intensity, MITCHY sings with a raw energy evoking vulnerability and deep reflection. Having co-produced and co-written her most recent works with Sydney based producer Tasker (G Flip, Tuka) MITCHY knows that 2020 is going to be a colossal year of ambient live shows and collaborations. 2019 saw the Sydney based artist partner and tour with young Australian sensations Thandi Phoenix and Kyle Lionhart for their TV and festival live performances including The Set (ABC), Youtube Festival, Festival X, Splendour in the Grass, and Woodford Folk Festival.
“Dark”, her debut single is an anthemic alt-pop piece; broody and melodramatic in nature infusing elements of RnB, soul and drum and bass. The song takes you on a visual journey of assailability asserting true realities for women all over the world who encounter misogyny on a daily basis. “Dark” calls out toxic masculinity for what it is and embodies a universal voice for the woman who has historically felt voiceless....more
