An earnest singer of adult contemporary-style pop, David Archuleta initially attracted fans in 2008 when his tenor vocals and boyish charm helped earn him a second-place finish on American Idol. Following his time on the show, he issued a handful of successful solo albums, including the gold-certified David Archuleta, which hit number two on the Billboard 200. The Other Side of Down also cracked the Top 20, before the singer embarked on a two-year missionary trip for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Upon returning, he displayed his maturing sound on 2017's Postcards in the Sky.
Although born in Miami, Florida in 1990, Archuleta spent most of his childhood in Utah, where he lived with his parents (Jeff, a jazz trumpeter, and Lupe Marie, a Honduran salsa singer) and four siblings.
