Asal Hazel

Asal is a songstress described as alternative R&B, with elements of soul, ethereal R&B, and occasionally pop. Before working closely with the Stones Throw/Akashik Records affiliated collective, the Persian-American Los Angeles native hit us with some teasers such as “Windows” with Anderson Paak’s official DJ, Callum Connor, & Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. single “Love” accomplice, Zacari. Then another with “u say u do” accompanied by MNDSGN, followed by her first music video titled 'Can U Handle', & a casually released tape, giving us just a little taste of what we’re in for in terms of vocal riffs & a soulful, healing feel. She has curated a world of staggering dysphoria in the dreamy sounds birthed from lovelorn poetry and atmospheric vocal tone. Hazel's lyrics are vulnerable & clever in themes of love, lust, and enlightenment.
The debut tape, Like Water Coda, features production from Swarvy, Lindsay Lowend, Lezah Lasa, and Stones Throw heavy hitters, such as MNDSGN, and Grammy-winning producer, Knxwledge, amongst others. It seems she has something to teach us about taste and heart. It’s only the beginning and we're all betting on this star.
