John Astor

Born in San Francisco, John was playing drums on the pots and pans, had a plastic saxophone and a broken violin, oh, and clarinet lessons with his aunt too, to get started on what would be the most unusual musical career. From the 1960's playing folk music on the dulcimer, rock music on his blues harmonica with the group Gramercy, he widened his horizons playing some of the first new age music with the Ti Hai Band. Also at that time he was writing 'horizontal music', which took the song through many musical changes as it went along, with Arthur Adcock on the very early synthesizers. After going into musical seclusion, he began a solo career in Las Vegas that got some of his first true fans. Then playing Funk'n'Roll in Phoenix and continuing his solo career too, he eventually moved to Hawaii and played in the great band High Tide. In 1989, John released his first abum of original songs followed by his original dulcimer album of 'horizontal music' and moved to Paris, France where he played with many well known artists from around the world. While performing, working in recording studios, making music for videos and teaching guitar, his US audience started to grow from radio play and university stations Then, he released 'Isabelle' which sold extrodinarily well with concerts around Europe.
