Lee Aaron

Lee Aaron is an award-winning Canadian singer, musician, and songwriter who has reinvented herself many times over during her long career. Coming up through Toronto's hard rock scene in the early '80s, she broke through to the mainstream with 1984's hard-charging Metal Queen, setting her on a heavy metal path that would reach its peak with 1989's Juno-nominated hit, Bodyrock. As she distanced herself from metal in the 90s, Aaron explored pop and alt-rock before doing an about face and re-emerging as a successful jazz and blues singer in the front half of the 2000s. After testing the waters in the latter part of that decade, Aaron reacquainted herself with the hard rock style of her early days and resumed her reign as a dynamic rock touring act in North American and Europe, eventually returning to the studio as well with heavy albums like 2016's Fire and Gasoline and its 2018 follow-up, Diamond Baby Blues.

Aaron was born in Belleville, Ontario, as Karen Lynn Greening. She started her professional career early, appearing on a televised musical variety show when she was only 15 years old. Two years later, around 1979, Greening became a member of a little-known band called Lee Aaron, playing keyboards, alto sax, and singing harmonies. Over time, Greening was moved from backup singer to lead and also took the band's name, Lee Aaron, as her own
