Evan Wise

I'm from a rural town in north Texas. 35 years later this happened. Fired, divorced, and a failed $25,000,000 film is how the story of Beautifully Serious begins. In the winter of 2017 Evan found himself staring out the window of his Los Angeles home, looking to the Hollywood Hills and wondering what had happened to his once thriving career as a hollywood studio composer. He thought of all the sacrifices he had made to study orchestration, theory and harmony. How he studied piano performance in college instead of composition. All the nights wiping dust off Mahler and Shostakovich scores at the library to get a peek into the mind of an uncompromising voice. Had all that been a waste? Did he destroy his vocation with greed and ambition? What the Hell happened?
Well.... Beautifully Serious is what happened. Like Evan's heros, he began writing with an uncompromising voice. A blistering whirlwind of refreshment and craft uninfluenced by anyone guiding him on what was en vogue or trending. Evan healed during the creative process and says "I just wanted to write some music that I wanted to hear" and that is the story of Beautifully Serious.
And now with the release of "Waterfowl" Evan wanted to write about the importance of isolation and recovering from a world tempting you to buy into a falsified view of success. Waterfowl has been inspired partly by his reading of Thoreau's Walden. Evan says of the book "Its calculated approach to isolation is what interests me the most."
