Jake Gray is a country music/singer-songwriter hailing from Knoxville, TN, (although he hails from western Michigan). “Near the Middle of Nowhere” is Jake’s fourth album and continues the focus on songs that tell stories that reflect life’s journeys. Jake is a multi-instrumentalist. In addition to playing guitar, he also handles bass, mandolin, harmonica and percussion. His wife Jamie handles the drumming chores. "Near the Middle of Nowhere" added Summer Fabus on violin and Tim Godfrey on keyboard/piano.
“Near the Middle of Nowhere” features Jake's classic story telling, as seen on the title track, there’s also room for some fun with the up-tempo dance number “It’s Friday Night”, the tongue-in-cheek “Life Sucks and Then You Die” and taking a turn at addressing the dearth of Halloween-themed country songs with “Legend of Hangman’s Hill”.
Jake’s previous album, “American Poet” featured country, rock, alternative, rockabilly, and blues tracks. The country track, “Three Days on the Mountain” spent seven weeks on the Canadian KB Country Radio’s top ten list.
