Chiedu Oraka

Chiedu Oraka is the sound of a new working-class Northern England, the pioneer of Hull’s alternative of urban scene, Chiedu Oraka was inspired by his older sister’s battered hand-me-down CD's, which included the likes of 2pac All Eyez on Me, Mase’s Harlem World and the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill; it's safe to say Chiedu's musical beginnings were somewhat different to the other kids living down the street.

Cutting his own path with the Lockdown crew through the UK scene his music is a commentary on the UK’s real nightlife combining Grime, Funky, Afro-fusion & Garage with rave/club culture wrapped in trademark Yorkshire humour.

Current single Men Behaving Badly has already received an 8/10 from Mixmag and spins from BBC Radio 1 tastemaker Toddla T & BBC 1Xtra’s Sian Anderson with grime tastemaker Sir Spyro inviting Chiedu onto his show for his Grime On Tour feature where he received Man of the Match from the rival spitters.

Previous single ‘Darcy’ has over 2.5M streams, sat on Grime Shutdown for over 300 days and The Streets Mike Skinner a big fan, spinning it on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show with press features including The Guardian, i-D, BBC Newsbeat, The Quietus, GRM Daily & RWD Mag.
