In a quest to share his own story of finding a sense of place, and the challenging yet rewarding process of settling into New York City, multi-hyphenate singer, songwriter, and visual artist Eddie Sears created Rocket Pengwin.
Hailing from Antarctica, Rocket Pengwin left Antarctica for New York City, as the ice cap on which he resided melted into the ocean. Rocket Pengwin’s story allows listeners and viewers to step into a familiar and surreal world, where they must examine their own preconceived notions of what it means to be the odd one out.
With immediate support from high-profile Instagram accounts like Overheard New York and Subway Creatures, Rocket Pengwin’s debut single 'Unique' earned primetime coverage from CBS New York. Shortly thereafter, the music video was picked up for distribution via mtvU and Nickelodeon's Nick Music, which reach a cumulative 50 million households in the US.
Rocket Pengwin’s second release, the thundering ‘Forget You’, was accompanied by a visualizer which earned over 30,000 views within its first 24 hours. Shortly after, Rocket Pengwin was tapped by dance music darlings Sofi Tukker to remix their iconic track, 'Fantasy', which released on April 10th. The third installment of Rocket Pengwin’s musical journey, 'New York', will be released conveniently in between Earth Day and World Penguin Day on April 24th.
The first official Rocket Pengwin EP entitled 'Planet Earth' is set for release on Ultra Records this summer....more
