The instrumentation is minimalistic and wide, with empty spaces. The lyrics describe the changes of a soul tormented by depression and immobilizing apathy. The everyday fight with no apparent solution is all of a sudden interrupted by a series of psychedelic sparks conformed by syncopated rhythm sections, abstract arpeggios, and synth melodies that guide the music rapidly through mountains of drumrolls until the end of the song. The vocal sections are clearly separated from those that are more instrumentally dense. The first ones are distant, indifferent, apathetic, and dense. Rather than a narration, they are the description of a mental state. The second ones have a groove and are somewhat inspired by hip hop, R&B, jazz, and funk music. Because of its production process and its literary content, this is the most intimate piece by the band so far. The drums were recorded at Victor’s apartment in Brooklyn, NY while the rest of the instrumentals were constructed and based around that rhythmic composition as well as the sound qualities of a home recording....more
