Koli Kohler

Being a descendant of the Hupa, Yurok and Karuk tribes of Northern California and of thespians on her Anglo-American side, Koli Kohler comes from a long line of storytellers. Koli’s warm personality shines through her songs as she takes us along her journey as a young woman who is “holding her own” while traversing her young adulthood across states and various countries. Koli creatively engages the listener by braiding together catchy tunes, interesting metaphors and unique timing. Blending her clear voice with the harmonious sounds of ukulele, guitar and piano, Koli hopscotches across the genre lines of pop, country and folk.


Koli began her songwriting career at age 8 when she was awarded by Native News the Native Voice of the Future for her song, Christopher Columbus with the Big Butt; a song admired by fellow musicians for “its great hook.” Koli has played her original music publicly since grade school in Sonoma County, California. She performed regularly at Hawaiian Brian’s when she attended University of Hawaii and at open mics in England, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, France as well as throughout Australia. She has performed stateside in Nashville, Cape Cod, around the Bay Area and currently performs weekly at the Alameda Cinema Grill in the Bay Area, CA.
Koli’s most recent audience is the special education students whom she has taught for the last several years in Oakland, California.
