"Oyugi Young Gideon, known professionally as Young Gideon, is a Kenyan music artist, producer, and founder of the record label Hits Mafia. Hailing from Holo, a town on the outskirts of Kisumu, Young Gideon has made a significant impact on the Kenyan music scene with his hard-hitting yet soulful tune delivery and cinematic storytelling. His music is a reflection of his background story, showcasing his honest, emotionally expressive style infused with poetic wisdom.
At the age of 16, Young Gideon made his initial foray into the music scene as a disc jockey while still in high school. In 2016, he fully immersed himself in music, collaborating with emerging artists from various cities and towns, recording, producing, writing music, and captivating audiences through performances at local shows in Kisumu and beyond, including Eldoret.
In 2019, Young Gideon released his first mixtape titled 'Krazy Kollege Life,' followed by the Afro synth Vol 1 project in 2022, featuring collaborations with fellow artists and showcasing his own productions. The same year, he released 'Undue Influence.' In 2023, Young Gideon released the 'I.O.U' EP, produced by the talented Rommy, a renowned international and local act. He is also set to release the 'Limpas' Album by the end of June.
As a producer, Young Gideon has left his mark on various projects, including producing notable tracks like 'Noma,' 'Tonight,' and 'Energy' by Nem.ar, a Kenyan female R&B singer and rapper. Additionally, he has worked with Kenyan rapper Ag robero, producing 'Gone Are the Days' from his EP 'Take CARE,' and has contributed to Dectoz's debut album 'The Life of Dectoz,' producing six songs and numerous singles.
Young Gideon's musical versatility spans across genres, with his production expertise encompassing R&B, hip-hop, trap, EDM, dancehall, and Afro music.
