Rufus Johnson

Nationally acclaimed artist Rufus Johnson is a Stellar-nominated singer-songwriter whose infectious tone and melodies are reminiscent of Soul and R&B crooners of the past. Rufus is also a multi-talented musician, vocal arranger and producer. He spent years honing his craft as a songwriter and performer before releasing his first solo effort "Brand Nu Me" in 2010. In 2014, He joined Gospel group "G.I." and co-wrote and sang on two top 20 Billboard singles, "Pray and Don't Worry" and "I'm Ready," as well as the well-received full-length album "Winning."

Rufus began singing and performing in school choirs in his hometown of Richmond, Va. He performed in various talent shows before graduating high school. He attended Fayetteville State University in North Carolina and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. He continued to write and record while teaching high school choir by day. Rufus still works as a teacher and mentor to young musicians while continuing to release new music. In 2020, Rufus remerged as a solo artist with the smash single "Thank You." With hard hitting drums and funk rhythms, it harkens to the emotion-driven sounds of quartet gospel groups of the 1950's.
