Canadian singer/songwriter Lights is known for her buoyant and atmospheric electronic synth pop. Lights first cracked the Canadian charts in May 2008 with her debut single "Drive My Soul," which paved the way for her 2009 debut The Listening. Accolades followed, including winning the 2009 Juno Award for New Artist of the Year. She has continued to garner both critical and commercial acclaim, with both 2011's Siberia and 2014's Little Machines reaching the Top Five of the Canadian charts and taking home Pop Album of the Year at the Juno Awards. She has continued to expand her approach, releasing acoustic versions of her albums. She also created a comic book to accompany her 2017 album Skin & Earth explored instrumental music as on 2020's How to Sleep When You're on Fire.
Born Valerie Poxleitner in 1987 in Timmins, Ontario, Lights spent much of her childhood traveling alongside her missionary parents.
