Highly regarded Liverpool Singer Songwriter John Jenkins is a firm local favourite, well known and loved from his appearances around the city with his “James Street Band”.
Back in the day John was a member The Persuaders and Come In Tokio giving him the opportunity to share stages with Elvis Costello, Echo And The Bunnymen and The Beat. This included 3 John Peel Sessions, Janice Long and Kid Jensen
For the past 6 years he has followed his own path as a solo artist or with backing from “The James Street Band”
His recent support spots have been with Chris Difford (Squeeze), Robert Vincent, Dean Owens and the Southerners, The Way Down Wanderers and Jarrod Dickenson. He was joint winner of the 2015 of the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge, and finalists in 2016 and 2019. His songs “Silhouettes” was a finalist in the UK Country Radio Show Song of the year 2019 and “Looking for That American Dream” in 2020. His song “Looking For That American Dream” was a finalist in the FabCharts 2020 Song of the Year.
He currently presents a weekly Americana Blues Country and Folk show at Vintage Radio Birkenhead called “The Garden Party”.
He released his new solo album “Growing Old – Songs from my Front Porch” in June 2020 to great reviews.
