Turning the stool over and pulling a rope between it's legs - that's what this kid did when he started walking. The rope sounded like a string and he enjoyed very much!
But his mother, brought up on classical music, took this construction away and gave to the boy colored pencils so that, God forbid, he would not become a guitarist. But after couple of years she gave the guy a sonorous old piano and supported his musical endeavors until the end of her life.
Hearing the sound of the Kazakh dombra from his father's radio, three-year-old Sergey was fascinated. Here was exactly what the piano lacks: a live touch of the string. Or – it was the voice of ancestors?
Later Kutanin graduated from musical college and wrote «24 preludes for guitar».
As he began to learn as a conductor and percussionist, Kutanin went to work in a symphony orchestra, but at home he composed for piano and guitar and wrote poems .
What a pain it was to write lyrics for famous bands, but not go on stage yourself!
But the path from evening rehearsals in the courtyard to large concert halls was quickly covered.
The first Kutanin's appearance on television was a program of Gagauz songs, in which Olga Stoykova also took part.
He found in his genetic memory the sounds of forgotten languages and half-forgotten music of our ancestors.
Now he presents these sounds to us, singing in Vepsian, Karelian, Uyghur, Crimean Tatar, Gagauz, Chuvash and other languages.
