Southside Chicago native Sav, aka SavWarfare, is without question one of the most prolific lyricists hip hop has seen in a very long time. Whether it be storytelling, or downright battle bars, Sav leaves no doubt about where he stands among rap’s best. The rare level of skill and versatility in which this emcee crafts his lyrics is a welcome breath of fresh air to a culture starving for artists of this caliber. Sav’s debut album, and inaugural release from the Artistry Inc. label, Verbal Warfare is a stunning display of lyrical wizardry and vivid storylines over rugged and soulful tunes. Sav’s song writing genius can also be heard on his producer Doc Link’s debut hip hop LP, titled The DOCuments. Sav and Doc show their continued growth and chemistry on songs from the project such as When Will It All End, the Plain and Simple remix, and Friendzone. Sav unapologetically goes against the grain and constantly pushes the envelope in a culture where, more often than not, artists will follow the status quo and bandwagon every latest trend in order to be relevant and popular for the moment.
