Phoebe Mendoza-Castillo, or NANAY NI JUAN, is a singer-songwriter who writes songs about different things under the sun and the universe, different experiences of people and animals, and yes, even people themselves, dead or alive.
She started writing songs since 2009 with her first band, Aurea Maristela, based in Bacoor, Cavite. Since then, writing songs became her personal journal.
A music teacher, an entrepreneur, a wife, and a mother, she finds songwriting as a daily part of her life. It is inevitable. It has no schedule. It has no limits.
She has a long list of musical influences. From Imago to Lea Salonga to Cynthia Alexander to a1 to 2ne1 to Dresden Dolls to The Hush Sound to Asin to Cinderella to Marit Larsen to Dashboard Confessional, and the list just goes on!
She loves to work at the background, not in the spotlight. She had produced different gigs and albums for indie and underground artists since 2012. She opened MusiKapihan with her husband, year 2018, so that artists and individuals from different backgrounds and genres can have a place they can call home.
