Dipo, born Oladipupo Olugbode, is one of the best vocalists out of Nigeria. Born on the 28th of June 1981 in Ibadan, Nigeria but brought up in Lagos. This 37 year old singer/songwriter has made a name for himself with his breakout single of 2010 “be your man” produced by Nigerian ace producer “Spax” which remains a classic till this day.
Dipo started music professionally in 2009 with the release of self titled EP which was later merged with other singles to make up his “Lagos to Toronto” album compilation. His most acclaimed song “be your man” was released in 2010; this soulful/afro/jazzy tune placed him in a unique place all by himself. He went on to perform on big stages alongside Nigeria’s finest like 2face idibia, D’banj, Wande Coal, also opened for Nigeria’s biggest alternative singer “Asa” at her “Asa on the green” concert in 2010.
After moving to Canada, Dipo teamed up with prolific producer Andrew Dawson to produce four of the five songs in his “New Vintage” EP which is his Canadian music debut. Teaming up with RAW music Toronto, Dipo had his debut canadian performance at the famous MOD Club in the heart of downtown Toronto, leaving concert goers and music lovers screaming for more with his unique blend of Blues/Soul/RnB with a little bit of Afro sound.
