Jay 21, whose real name is Jean Paul MENDY, is an artist, rapper, author, composer and performer born on April 21, 1986 in Dakar Senegal. Many of Jay 21 songs become very popular and trendy online with a great number of streaming and downloads on Boomplay.

His artistic adventure officially began in 2006 when he decided to become the manager of the artist Canabasse in order to support the latter in his career.
In 2009, he was a founding member of the successful label Buzzlab in collaboration with LocksLegl and Canabasse.
In 2013, Jay 21 started recording singles as an amateur and surprised his partners with his talent. The same year, he made his first appearance with the general public when he participated in the collective project of the label entitled "4 TheBuzz 2".
Jay 21 is fearless and thirsty for music so he joins forces with Cheeks and Nino to form the group Sarax Gang. The trio released many hit singles such as "Dama Xew" and "Guënt".
In 2015, he recorded "Na gooré", another successful single that made people talk about the artist featuring Ngaaka Blindé. The same year, the artist is present on the label's project entitled "4 TheBuzz 3".
The following year Jay 21 released "Sama Aicha", another single filled with emotions, inspired by a story of rape on a minor, the first extract from his first mixtape entitled "XXI".
On April 21, 2017, Jay 21 released "XXI" symbolically to blow out his birthday candle with his listeners. This work is welcomed with open arms by the public and the artist becomes the first on Reverbnation and Deezer Senegal with more than 55,000 fans.
On August 15, 2017, he organizes a concert open to all in his neighborhood to present his new mixtape which will bring together around 1500 people. He also organizes a tour in the three major departments of Fouta.
To close the year with his fans, he organizes a concert at Canal Olympia on December 31st.
This year rich in achievement will earn him the trophy of "Best People Champ" or the best revelation of the year at the Galsen Hip Hop Awards.
In 2018, Jay 21 decided to leave Buzzlab to focus on his personal career. On September 15 of the same year, he organized the "Charmer Job Bi Show" in order to meet the expectations of the public.
In 2019, he created "21 Records", his own label. He formed a strategic image management partnership with Black Retina and chained singles such as "Charmer Job Bi", "Nieup", "Kouy Sa Baay", "Dem Nieuw".
In 2020, Jay 21 multiplies very high quality clips and releases an EP entitled "Before The Album" to announce his first solo album entitled "IVK".
On October 29, 2021 he released his first album IVK: "Kontane Kontunié bagn Konté ci Keneu" in partnership with UNIVERSAL MUSIC AFRICA for distribution.
