The Hisunz are Emma Barber (Vox) & Alex Roman (Guitars). The band was formed in East London during a recording session with Jules De Martino & Katie White (The Ting Tings) who helped develop & co-write some of their early songs.
From Spain but against the grain, The Hisunz songs are cool, melodic, simple yet emotionally complex (think ‘The xx’ mixed with ‘The Strokes’ with Johnny Mar’esque guitars) They have the ability to make you feel youthful and nostalgic but also sad and introspective. The songs, with Alex’s emotion filled guitar hooks beautifully juxta positioned by Emma’s cool nonchalant but sincere vocals over electronic drum tracks will make you dance whilst breaking your heart.
Their songs are based on feelings and ideas that evolve in an intuitive and sensual way. The lyrics are personal and direct. The sounds they make are minimalist, all of them intrinsic to the song, message, and overall experience.
They love the melody and creativity from the 60’s, admire the attitude and energy from the 70’s, and the “dark” and electronic elements from the 80’s. They create riffs, patterns, and beats which allow the listener to dive into the universe of each song.
