Kenneth Mason, better known by stage name K.O. Mason is an emerging American artist from the Eastside of Chicago, who brings us trap music with a mix of hip hop. Raised by a single mom, Lisa Sykes, he has two brothers and two sisters.
In 2011, K.O. tried out the music thing but he wasn’t really sure as to where to take it. It started out with himself and his two cousins as you will hear him speak about them in a basement in the Englewood area of Chicago. Surrounded by poverty, crime and strict relatives gave them nothing else to do but make music.
In 2012, he went to college at Eastern Illinois University where he played basketball. Doing good but still not happy he returned home to pursue his music.
In 2014, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada with his aunt and uncle, unfortunately things didn’t go as planned. Later in the year of 2014, K.O. experienced a number of tragedies. He lost two close friends due to gun violence and one close friend due to the Justice System. He also was incarcerated later that year, while back in Chicago.
These incidents motivated his “wake up” call. Once he was released in 2015 he started to take music more seriously. K.O. is a different breed of rapper, he brings out real life situations with his metaphoric word play bringing you the total visual.
