Junaid Malik is an independent singer/song-writer from London. In 2020 he was selected as a BBC Future Sounds artist.
After spending 7 years on a journey around the world searching for spirituality and music, Malik returned to the industry full of determination and ambition to challenge the status quo of the current British Asian music and the world of popular music.
Growing up in Southall, he echoes back to the footprint left behind by previous generations of Britsh Asians musicians. Malik is aiming to bring a new wave of music for all ages to bridge the gap between cultures, by fusing his Desi roots and British upbringing.
His 2018 comeback single, ‘Thuwan Urda (Swayin’) achieved over 100k plays on streaming platforms and was showcased by the popular Pakistani music TV channel ARY Muzik.
His follow up single, ‘Menu Mere Haal’ was produced by fellow British Asian artist Zack Knight and play-listed by BBC Asian Network.
Malik went on to release a collaborative project with Mumbai based British Asian singer/songwriter Heeral Chhatralia and London producer Jayson Jay in Autumn 2019. The colourful ‘Phul Javan Duniya’ - written and produced in one day, received A-List support on BBC Asian Network.
