Zaire moved to the UK when he was 4 years old, speaking French, English and Kiswahili; he quickly settled in and learnt his craft primarily in the church where he picked up his multi-instrumentalist skills playing drums, keys, bass and guitar.
He adopted his native land’s post-colonial name ‘Zaire’ which comes from a Kongo term meaning "the river that swallows all rivers" and upholds the strengths of the original people by embracing a warrior spirit within his music.
