Shep

Shep is an independent rapper/writer from upstate New York. Rochester to be exact. He began writing raps in the second grade after his dad would often take him to visit his older cousins who had a recording studio set up in their bedroom. Shep said “yeah I would say my cousins inspired me to want to write music and they influenced the way I write today with all the metaphors and stuff that I use. That’s how they would rap and how everybody they listened to rapped so I just thought that’s how your suppose to do it.”Shep used his grade school days to sharpen his pen before recording his first song during his sophomore year of high school. Shep talked about his very first time recording by saying, “it was so bad lol! I put it on YouTube and everybody in school laughed at me. It was a Versace freestyle that I did on audacity with a mic my dad got me for Christmas. I put out 3 mixtapes in high school and none of them really stuck, so I got discouraged and quit.” With college graduation coming, he picks back up. Shep says “ it would be pretty cool to get a job as a sports writer but I want to see if this music thing works first. I’m going to put my all in it.
