LONDON – 22-year-old singer-songwriter Merunisa, real name Merunisa Ahmed, is taking over the UK Altnerative RnB scene. Dubbed as the ‘Female Drake’, Merunisa began writing her touching single 'Broken & Bruised' in September 2019 in a melancholy studio session which tells the tale of the brutal aftermath of a relationship. Shortly followed by ‘Control’, a track that is amplified by Merunisa’s exquisite cosmic vocals along with a familiar analog kick drum; an experience that can only be described as a return of Y2K R&B goodness with a dash of Summer Walker-esque vocal prowess. Now entering 2021 she’s back with her new release ‘Belong to the World’ with its punching lyrics that leave its listeners wide-eyed, absorbing every drop of emotion that Merunisa’s melodies cry to them.

Merunisa’s vocals were first picked up at the tender age of 3 and by the age of 8, the young singer had already begun developing songwriting skills. By age 17, she had put together her first unmixed, unofficial EP with the help of friends, recorded on a camera microphone. It was at that point that Merunisa knew she wanted to pursue music as a full-time career. Once taking things seriously, like many artists, Merunisa struggled to afford her studio sessions, now balancing work alongside her music career to fulfil her passion. ‘Belong to the World’ is now out for the world to hear.
