Singer-songwriter, Producer, and multi-instrumentalist DMac Burns, fuses together elements of electronic pop, indie rock, R&B, and dancehall, amid heartfelt, lyrically rich songs to create a unique style all his own. Imagine Busy Signal’s producer making a tune for a James Blake x Sublime collaboration, but he recorded it all in an uptown NYC apartment with J. Balvin blasting through the walls. Yeah, that.
Originally hailing from the Bronx, Burns cultivated his musical career from his multicultural neighborhood, having learned saxophone at the age of 12, and eventually fronting his first band by the time he was 14. Merging together influences from Nirvana, Bob Marley, Sublime, and more, he created his first few projects with his high school band Lonely Trout, taking the time to experiment with his sound and songwriting. Soon after, Burns began navigating NYC’s vast music scene, performing alongside local bands such as Brooks Thomas and Rocky & The Pressers at New York staples including Mercury Lounge, Brooklyn Bowl, Joe’s Pub, and more.
Finally, after spending the last year and a half working on his debut, self-titled EP, DMac Burns is set to release his first solo project, October 2020. Working alongside fellow musicians and industry friends such as Marc Campbell from Misterwives; Rocky Russo of Modern Whale; and Seth Nicholson of Durieux, DMac has created a whole new set of tunes informed by a lifetime of listening, writing, performing and city living.
