From the underground scene of Vienna, Austria, a Soulful Psychedelic Blues Band. Songwriter Happy Betty first started out as passionate bass player, with the dream of forming a band, but snowed down with work life and studying the idea was nearly lost. With nobody suitable to singer, Happy Betty step up. She was joined in 2015 by Patrick “Slowhand” Nagl with his blistering Rock Blues guitar tones, a Rhythm ‘n’ Blues local legend. Adding Danny Bianchi with his deep dark jumping bass playing style and Bernie Cosworth with his rock drums, Portobello Express was born.
The first release comes in 2017 with “Be Blues”, soulful Rhythm ’n’ Blues song, and “The Devil is Dead” a stomping Rock song; on the back their great success touring around Europe.
The band releases their debut Ep in 2018 “2-3-4!”, with songs like “I Wanna Break You”, a modern Blues Rock anthem of hard love, and “2-3-4!” an upbeat bombastic story of a musician life.
With a catalogue of songs, “Be Blues”, “the Devil is Dead”, “I Wanna Break You”, “2-3-4!”, “Aim For The Sky” & “Just A Woman”, deeply rooted in the psychedelic sounds of the Swinging 60’s, with power blues riffs and an energetic vocal style, you are witness to unique style that is Portobello Express. From our latest single release on vinyl out on 13th Nov 2019: “The Sea Rises” ( Epic power-driven tale of the apocalypse of humanity) and “Sigh” (The sad and desolated groovy tale of the soul).
