Based in Lusaka, Zambia and raised in Gaborone, Chilu Jr looks to pave his way into becoming one of Zambian Hip-Hop's biggest figures. Starting his music journey in 2013, he is influenced heavily by the SA style of rap and beat production. As a producer, he crafted his own brand of beats that showcased high tempo's and energy worthy of turning up any crowd, but embedded into them were lyrics that would make anyone fail to question his lyrical ability.
Choosing to stick to his Hip-Hop roots, his major influences were Styles P, J Cole and A-Reece, infusing elements of each artist and morphing his own sound, the "Chilu Sound", which can be heard in his more recent tracks.
Following in the footsteps of many of his friends from High School, Zambian rapper Chilu Jr (born Chilufya Mwamba Jr.) released his first single titled "Feelings" in 2019, an afro love song with a Hip-Hop twist featuring Natasha Meleki. This came off the back of a production run from 2015 - 2019 where he produced for the likes of Jack Monster, Phillip Mweemba, EMOB, Name's Martian, Spaceman Zack just to name a few. He went on to co create his own record label EL3V8 Music Group in 2020 alongside frequent collaborator and artist Chiyembekezo, and began releasing singles under the stable including "Superstar" and "Shade" which both featured Chiyembekezo.
After a shaky start, the label looks to come out strong in 2023, with the announcing of Chilu's debut EP "No Rush", which is set to arrive this April....more
