In 2012 when Patrick Killeen began recording as Shoos Off, his good friend Robbie Dick aka Dobbie Rick pushed him to make one album. Instead he made a mixtape called “Drugs & Other Loves.” Ten songs, most made from vocal and piano loops and the title track featuring the bands first lineup of Jason Chang, David Grantham, Jacqueline Pablo and Scott Zschomler. The album came a year later. “Issues” saw Killeen’s compositions take a more professional turn, showcasing his unique voice and melodies that stick with you well after you’ve stopped listening.
The “Most Times” EP followed, continuing the mix of singular pop music with full band blowouts and soon after, the second album “Kiss The Television” which was the most collaborative effort to date. The “Old Friends” EP features some of the last songs Shoos Off wrote as a band before 2017’s “Celebrity Crush” turned the focus inward once again with a set of songs that touch on addiction, dreams, heartbreak and feeling conflicted about one’s own mustache.
