Career
After spending his childhood in Khombole, 120 km from Dakar, Assane Ndiaye moved to Pikine, a suburb of the Senegalese capital, for his studies, which he continued until his final year. Against his parents' wishes, he often goes to attend the rehearsals of his older brother Thione Seck and his group Raam Daan, near their house. This is how he was very quickly taken by the music virus, and began to sing in Wolof (his language) in the festivals of his district: the "kassaks" (night celebrations of circumcision), the "mbapatts" (traditional evenings enlivened by struggles without striking punctuated by the mbalax) and the "simbs" (lion dance).
In order to dissuade him from making music, his father advises him to enlist in the Senegalese army where he will remain for two years. Subsequently, he suggests that she take the entrance exam to the gendarmerie.
But the passion for music is stronger, and in 1985, Assane Ndiaye leaves the gendarmerie, a year after the creation, by his eldest Thione Seck , of the group Raam Daam, including his brother Mapenda Seck (percussion, voice). From then on, he regularly attended concerts and group rehearsals, taking advantage of the breaks to indulge in percussion and drums. Seeing that his younger brother is a real enthusiast, Thione Seck first integrates him as a maracas player in the formation, before making him one of his percussionists (sabar drum). Soon, Assane Ndiaye replaces the drummer and will remain so for a year. During this period, he learned and perfected orchestration, rhythm and vocal harmonization. Subsequently, Assane began to provide backing vocals and the first parts of the concerts of the group Raam Daam.
During the making of Papa In 1992, Thione Seck invited Assane Ndiaye to perform one of his compositions on the album. A renewed experience until 1996, when the Daaly cassette was released in Senegal . That same year, Thione Seck helped his little brother Assane to record with the group Raam Daam, Nguistal , his first solo cassette, a fusion of mbalaxand pop sung in Wolof (language). Hailed by the press and ranked for weeks at the top of Senegalese hit parades, the Nguistal cassette earned its author Assane Ndiaye the nickname "Voix du Rossignol" in Senegal .
