The Tisburys

The Tisburys are a Philadelphia-based indie rock band fronted by singer-songwriter Tyler Asay. Originally from Scranton, PA, the group has evolved from the duo of Asay and guitarist John Domenico, to being joined by bassist Doug Keller and drummer Andrew Huston. The band plays loud and experimental folk-rock with Americana influences, a real Family Band™ with frequent appearances by the band’s musical peers.
The band released their new record, Wax Nostalgic, back in April. A collection of road-weary yet jubilant and driving rock and roll, these songs take the listener on a memory trip with them. Themes range from lost love to forgotten friends to even death, all while the band chugs through rock and roll history while ripping it apart at the same time. Influences include the lyrical storytelling of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, while the music takes cues from modern indie-rock such as Wilco and The National.
Located primarily in the Manayunk neighborhood of Philly, the band frequently plays events in the area, such as the Street Food Festival and Dawson Street Pub Open Mic Night (which Asay hosts). The band performs at numerous venues in the city, such as Milkboy and Boot & Saddle, along with places in the greater Philadelphia area such as West Chester and the Lehigh Valley.
Wax Nostalgic & ii are out now. The Tisburys are currently working on their follow-up LP, out this summer.
