Whether it be food, electricity, petrol, the internet, alcohol, cigarettes, or even validation, we would choose our desires over our needs, which is why Hype is seen smoking a cigarette instead of drinking a glass of water. He is covered in grease, showing how he has been tainted by the world, causing him to burn out and exhaust his life force energy—symbolizing what overconsumption has done to us.
